Granma´s government structure


The Provincial Assembly of People´s Power of Granma constituted on March 25, 2018, for its 12th Mandate Period is composed of 83 delegates, of which 38 are delegates from districts (45.78%).

The structure of the Government in Granma is made up of 43 women (51.80%) and 40 men (48.19).

Thirteen members are between 18 and 35 years old (3.61%), 47 are between 36 to 50 years old (56.62%), there are 22 between the ages of 51 to 60 (25.87%) and only one member is over 60 years of age (1.20%), while the average age is 45.

A total of 75 delegates reach Higher Education (90.36%) and the remaining 8 delegates have completed the high school. 59.03 per cent are blacks or of mixed race, and 40.96 percent are white.

A broad representation of the sectors of society have a presence in the Direction of the Provincial Assembly of People´s Power of Granma, which is made up of:

Manuel Santiago Sobrino Martínez. President of the Provincial Assembly of People´s Power (APPP).

Yanetsy Terry Gutiérrez. Vice President of the Provincial Assembly.

Ariel Fonseca Quesada. Secretary of the Provincial Assembly.

There are seven permanent working commissions, which support the Assembly in the carrying out of its activities, especially to exercise control and supervision of government entities. The designation of structures is the following one:

1. Permanent Work Commission on Education, Culture, Science and Technology and for the attention to Infancy, Youth and  Equal Rights for Women.

2. Permanent Commission of Agri-food Work.

3. Permanent Work Commission for attention to the working of Local Bodies, Legality and Internal Order.

4. Standing Committee on Construction, Housing, Transportation and Communications.

5. Permanent Commission of Health, Aqueduct, Communal, Sports and Environment.

6. Permanent Working Commission on Commerce, Gastronomy, Services, Tourism and Industry.

7. Permanent Working Commission on Economic Issues.

The Assembly also has its Governing Body, the Provincial Administration Council (CAP), it is made up of 25 members, including one President (the same President of the Assembly), a Vice President for the Administration Body, seven vice presidents, a secretary and 15 other members.

The CAP, along with the administrative entities, is created with the purpose of satisfying the economic, health and other welfare, educational, cultural, sports and recreational needs of the population.

For its part, the Municipal Assemblies, in its 17th Mandate Period, are composed of delegates from the 960 districts that there are in the province, distributed in its 13 municipalities. Also 131 popular councils were constituted.

Our province is represented with 42 deputies to the National Assembly of People’s Power (Cuban Parliament).
